Já muitas revistas, disseram que 2007, iria ser o ano dos Joy Division (eu por razões óbvias, acho que foi antes 1979 e 1980), muito por culpa do filme “Control” (que se estreia entre nós amanhã) de Anton Corbijn. Mas há várias formas de homenagear uma banda, para além de um (uns) filme(s), também o facto de existirem bandas famosas de inspiração Joy Divisiana (Interpol, Editores, etc…) e já agora esta música:

Os The Wombats, são um trio, e como já percebemos são de Liverpool. Eles são Matthew Murphy (vocalista e guitarrista), Dan Haggis (baterista, teclista e também vocalista (back vocals)) e Tord Øverland-Knudsen (baixista e “adicionalmente” também vocalista). Este último como dá para ver pelo nome não é um inglês de gema, aliás não é um inglês “at all”, mas um norueguês que adoptou Liverpool como a sua cidade. Conheceram-se no Liverpool Insitute of Performaning Arts, que lhes deu a possibilidade de darem concertos para mais de 20000 pessoas na China.
Em 2007, saiu o álbum de estreia intitulado “The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation” (um guia que esperemos que seja útil a muita gente). Este álbum já conseguiu chegar ao núemro 11 da tabela de discos britânica, e tem o aqui destacado “Let’s Dance To Joy Division”.

Assim vamos todos dançar ao som dos Joy Division, celebrar a ironia, de tudo estar mal, mas ainda assim, porque não, estar feliz, eu estou…
